Trainee Advisory Committee (TAC)
The Trainee Advisory Committee (TAC) is an integral part of the Canadian Paediatric Inpatient Research Network (PIRN), established to actively engage pediatric trainees in national research initiatives and to foster collaboration across training centres in Canada. The TAC provides a platform for residents, fellows, graduate students, and other early-career researchers to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of pediatric inpatient care.
The committee is composed of Trainee Members and up to three Trainee Leads, including one fellow and one to two residents. This structure promotes leadership development while ensuring continuity and mentorship within the committee. Members serve one-year terms, with the option to renew, and transitions to Lead roles extend involvement for an additional year to support long-term engagement.
Over the years, the TAC has contributed to a number of multi-centre projects, including trainee-led research initiatives, national surveys, and collaborative publications. These projects reflect the committee’s commitment to producing high-quality, impactful work while building research capacity among pediatric trainees. The TAC continues to play a vital role in shaping PIRN’s research priorities and strengthening its trainee network across the country.
