About PIRN

Launched in 2019, PIRN brings together 16 academic and 10 community hospitals across Canada. We collaborate with children and families to generate evidence that improves care and outcomes for hospitalized children in general paediatric settings. A significant milestone was securing a CIHR grant in 2020, entitled "Patient-oriented research priorities for paediatric hospital care: a James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership". Ranked #1 out of 147 applications, this grant underscored the strength of our team and the critical importance of this research.

PIRN engages with clinicians, scientists, trainees, and patient partners through monthly meetings, newsletters, and annual meetings. We actively support research collaboration with investigators and other networks by conducting thorough reviews of research proposals and writing Letters of Support. PIRN is a member of Children's Healthcare Canada's Child Health Hubs and is recognized as an emerging hospital-based national network by the Accelerated Clinical Trails (ACT) Consortium.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We would like to acknowledge the land on which SickKids operates. For thousands of years it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat and Petun First Nations, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, Toronto is home to Indigenous Peoples from across Turtle Island. SickKids is committed to working toward new relationships that include First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples, and is grateful for the opportunity to share this land in caring for children and their families.
