Trainees
Trainees play a central role in PIRN. As residents, fellows, and graduate students begin their work in paediatric research, they contribute directly to PIRN’s mission of improving care and outcomes for hospitalized children in general pediatric settings.
PIRN emphasizes mentorship and collaboration, connecting trainees with clinician-scientists and researchers across Canada. This structure allows trainees to engage meaningfully in research projects, gain insight into the realities of pediatric inpatient research, and build professional relationships that support their development.
The network includes a Trainee Advisory Committee (TAC), made up of trainees from across the country. The TAC leads initiatives such as the PIRN Seminar Series, which features clinician-scientists sharing both their research and practical guidance for those entering the field. The TAC also ensures that trainee perspectives are reflected in the network’s activities and priorities.
Trainees are key contributors to PIRN’s work and vision. Their involvement helps shape current research efforts and ensures a strong foundation for the future of pediatric health research in Canada.
