About Our Logo

PIRNLogoEsunflower.png

Welcome to PIRN. As you look at our logo, you will see a reflection of our dedication to improving outcomes and care for hospitalized children through meaningful research and partnership.

The group of figures signify the diversity, inclusion, and collaboration among the children, youth, families, researchers, and healthcare providers who are at the heart of PIRN. Each of whom contributes unique abilities, experiences, and backgrounds to our work.

The maple leaf being held by the figure on the left proudly symbolizes our identity as a Canadian research network, grounded in collaboration of people and ideas from across the country and globally.

The logo includes representation of the physical and hidden disabilities experienced by the children and youth we work with through the wheelchair and sunflower, reflecting our commitment to recognizing and addressing the needs of all children and youth.

The bright, inclusive colours and characters reflect our focus on child health, equity, and family-centered research within Canadian paediatric inpatient care. We invite you to join us in advancing our mission to improve outcomes and care for hospitalized children and youth, and build capacity through mentorship and collaboration.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We would like to acknowledge the land on which SickKids operates. For thousands of years it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat and Petun First Nations, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, Toronto is home to Indigenous Peoples from across Turtle Island. SickKids is committed to working toward new relationships that include First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples, and is grateful for the opportunity to share this land in caring for children and their families.
